Whey Protein Shakes

In recent years, whey protein shakes have become hugely popular, spreading far beyond the gyms and kitchens of bodybuilders and power lifters and into the dietary regimes of other athletes and folks who are just conscious about maintaining good health. But are whey protein shakes really important? Who really needs them?

Everyone can benefit from whey protein shakes. That’s the truth.

Malnourishment is a word mostly associated with the third world, but the truth is most people in affluent countries are malnourished because the foods they eat simply don’t contain adequate nutrition to maintain and promote health. And, time is also a huge issue. People are busy, and simply don’t have the time they used to, to prepare a meal and sit down and eat. Fast food has become a way of life. Microwave meals. Sugary snacks – and even worse, skipping meals altogether. It’s no good for anyone.

For the average person, breakfast is the most important meal of the day, yet a huge percentage of people habitually skip breakfast. Some will do so because they don’t have the time to prepare and eat a meal, and others will do so because they just don’t feel like eating in the morning – so may have a cup of coffee or fruit juice, instead. Whey protein shakes are ideal in such situations.

For people in training, the general rule of thumb is meals need to be eaten every 3 hours to maintain nutrient flow and stay in a positive nitrogen balance to maintain repair and growth. Since protein is the most important nutrient for people trying to gain muscle or lose fat, protein needs to be eaten at every meal. Moreover, it has to be very good quality protein.

Whey protein is second to none in quality, so whey protein shakes are ideal to include as part of a regular diet, so you get top-notch nutrients without the hassle of cooking and preparing meals. Simply mix up a whey protein shake and voila!
